Lithic
Inspired by ancient petroglyphs, Lithic reflects Richard Burke’s exploration of form as both sculpture and symbol. The piece carries a quiet presence, its simplified barn owl form emerging from a monolithic structure that feels carved rather than constructed.
Cast in bronze, the surface holds a textured patina that evokes weathered stone—suggesting age, memory, and a connection to early human mark-making. The owl, subtly revealed within the form, becomes less a literal figure and more a guardian-like presence—watchful, still, and enduring.
This work speaks to Burke’s ability to merge natural subject matter with a timeless, almost archeological sensibility, where form and meaning are inseparable.
