Aware

Aware is a bronze owl sculpture by Richard Burke, defined by its forward-leaning posture and direct, attentive gaze. The form feels alert and engaged, capturing a moment of heightened perception as the owl focuses outward.

Burke’s sculptural language emphasizes expression through texture and form. The surface is richly worked, with layered markings and subtle irregularities that suggest feathers while allowing the hand of the artist to remain visible. Variations in patina—deep bronze with mossy greens and warmer undertones—bring movement and depth to the piece.

Mounted on a simple plinth, the composition elevates the owl while maintaining a grounded presence. Aware conveys a sense of immediacy and quiet intensity, inviting the viewer into a moment of observation and connection.
