Enigma

Enigma by Richard Burke is a spotted owl bronze sculpture of an owl rendered in a tall, elongated form, emphasizing stillness, presence, and quiet observation. Rising to 16 inches in height, the piece has a totemic quality, its simplified vertical structure drawing the eye upward while maintaining a grounded, contemplative weight.

The owl’s features are softened and partially obscured, inviting interpretation rather than immediate recognition. Subtle variations in the patina and surface texture enhance this sense of mystery, revealing themselves gradually as light moves across the form.

Both ancient and contemporary in feeling, Enigma reflects Burke’s ability to distill the essence of avian life into a form that is less descriptive and more experiential—an object that invites reflection rather than definition.
