How it All Began...

My journey into the art world began in the early 2000s when I was hired to work in a gallery in Cannon Beach. The owner, a former director in Carmel, mentored many others, providing me with an incredible introduction to the art industry. This experience profoundly changed my perspective, allowing me to view the world through an artist's lens—appreciating shadows, reflections, and the intricate details artists capture in their work.

As time passed and the economy shifted, the gallery closed, leading me to work with other gallery owners in various cities. I found myself missing the artists and the vibrant community we had built. The dream of opening my own gallery persisted, and I often spoke about it while working other jobs. I kept envisioning the perfect space, walking through Seaside and Astoria, inquiring about locations, and imagining the gallery's potential.

One day, a serendipitous opportunity arose. While discussing the need for more event venues in Seaside with a building owner, he offered me a small space on the first floor to open the gallery. This generous offer marked the beginning of the Angi D Wildt Gallery, which opened in November 2018. By September 2020, I relocated the gallery to a charming spot on 10th Street in Astoria, Oregon—a magical street lined with galleries, boutiques, and a bustling quilt shop. Being part of this vibrant neighborhood has been an absolute joy.

When I returned to the North Coast, I made a vow to pursue sailing and open an art gallery, committing wholeheartedly to these passions. I began sailing that first year, and a few years later, the gallery became a reality.
