Bill W Dodge is an American Folk Artist well known for painting iconic images of various towns. Since moving to Astoria, Oregon in 1999, he has painted the riverfront many times, capturing the decades of evolution and history of this picturesque town. Developed near the mouth of the Columbia River as a Port Town, various ships come from all over the world. There is a strong commercial and recreational fishing community, power and sailboats out enjoying the view, racing sailboats. The Maritime Museum is featured in the center with other iconic images dappled nearby. He painted actual images from the canneries labels that used to be produced in Astoria.
