Shayna Rae
Atmospheric Paintings of the Pacific Northwest
Shayna Rae is an Oregon-based painter whose atmospheric oil works are inspired by the landscapes surrounding Astoria, the Columbia River, and the rugged Northwest Coast. Her paintings capture the shifting light, water, and weather near the mouth of the river—where land, sea, and sky quietly converge.

Working at an intimate scale, Shayna invites close looking. Her paintings reveal subtle tonal shifts, softened edges, and reflective surfaces that feel both expansive and deeply personal. Many of her works depict familiar local scenes of Astoria, Cape Disappointment, and the Columbia River are rendered not as literal views, but as moments of presence and quiet observation.

With a background as a Production Designer and Art Director in film and television, Shayna brings a cinematic sensitivity to her painting practice. Years spent crafting immersive visual environments inform her intuitive approach to composition, light, and mood, allowing each piece to unfold with a restrained sense of narrative.

Ranging in size from 5" × 5" inches to 12" × 12" inches, Shayna’s paintings feel contemplative and distilled, capturing fleeting moments along the Northwest Coast. Her work has been exhibited in galleries including the Salvador Dalí Museum, and she continues to divide her time between Oregon and creative projects in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Portland.
