Sphinx

Sphinx

Sphinx presents a reclining hybrid figure constructed through simplified anatomy, layered forms, and carefully balanced geometry. The composition combines human and animal qualities, creating a figure that feels simultaneously familiar and otherworldly while drawing attention to shape, symbolism, and visual tension.

Through his symbolic approach to the figure, Bud Egger transforms mythology into contemporary narrative. Referencing the enduring symbolism of the sphinx, the work suggests themes of mystery, wisdom, guardianship, and transformation. Rather than presenting answers directly, Sphinx invites viewers into a space of questioning and interpretation, encouraging personal reflection on the relationship between knowledge, identity, and myth.
