Icarus

Icarus presents a suspended figure balanced between ascent and descent, using elongated forms and layered anatomy to create a composition filled with tension and movement. The inverted orientation challenges visual expectations, drawing attention to the fragile relationship between balance, aspiration, and vulnerability.

Drawing from the enduring mythology of Icarus, Bud Egger transforms the human figure into a symbol of ambition, risk, and human experience. The work explores the space between triumph and consequence, inviting viewers to consider the tension between reaching beyond limits and the forces that inevitably pull us back toward earth. Like much of Egger’s work, Icarus leaves room for personal interpretation while engaging timeless themes that remain deeply human.
