Sleeping Giant

Sleeping Giant presents a reclining figure formed through flowing contours, repeating patterns, and interlocking shapes that blur the line between body and landscape. Though physically at rest, the composition carries an underlying sense of tension—suggesting something powerful beneath the surface.

The work reflects Bud Egger’s narrative-driven approach to symbolism and the human condition. Sleeping Giant can be interpreted as a meditation on nature itself: vast, patient, and temporarily quiet while human activity unfolds around it. Through simplified forms and rhythmic linework, the piece invites reflection on the balance between human presence and the larger forces that remain dormant, yet ever present. The suggestion that this sleeping force could awaken adds both tension and quiet reverence to the composition.
