Columbia River Maritime Museum with historic ships, Astoria trolley, and vintage Columbia River salmon labels.

Next Stop Columbia River Maritime Museum

Next Stop Columbia River Maritime Museum celebrates one of Astoria's most beloved landmarks and the rich maritime history of the Columbia River. Bill W. Dodge combines the museum's distinctive architecture with historic vessels, the Astoria Riverfront Trolley, visitors enjoying the waterfront, and the working river that continues to shape the community today.

Surrounding the composition is an extraordinary collection of vintage Columbia River salmon canning labels. With permission from the Columbia River Maritime Museum, Bill carefully borrowed and studied authentic labels from the museum's collection, faithfully incorporating them into the artwork. These colorful labels pay tribute to the fishing and canning industries that helped build Astoria and preserve an important chapter of the region's history.

Like many of Dodge's narrative paintings, the artwork rewards careful observation with countless details—from ships navigating the Columbia River to museum visitors, waterfront activity, and historic references woven throughout the scene. The result is both a celebration of the Columbia River Maritime Museum and a visual history of Astoria's enduring connection to the sea.

Printed from Bill W. Dodge's original artwork, this fine art print is available in multiple sizes and is a favorite among maritime enthusiasts, museum visitors, historians, and collectors of Pacific Northwest art.
