Astoria Riverfront Trolley No. 300 with Columbia River boats, Pilot Tug Arrow, seagulls, and dog along the waterfront.

Chasing Old 300

Chasing Old 300 celebrates one of Astoria's most beloved landmarks—the Astoria Riverfront Trolley No. 300. Inspired by the excitement of watching, and sometimes literally chasing, "Old 300" as it travels along the Columbia River waterfront, Bill W. Dodge captures the joy and character that have made the trolley an icon of the city.

The composition places the historic red trolley at center stage while the Columbia River bustles with familiar vessels, including the Pilot Tug Arrow, sailboats, excursion boats, fishing vessels, and commercial ships. Seagulls soar overhead while a dog races alongside the trolley, adding Bill's signature touch of whimsy and motion.

Silhouetted passengers fill the trolley's windows, inviting viewers to imagine the conversations, memories, and adventures taking place inside. Like many of Dodge's narrative paintings, the artwork rewards close observation with playful details that celebrate Astoria's waterfront culture and community spirit.

Printed from Bill W. Dodge's original artwork, this signed fine art print is available in multiple sizes and makes a wonderful keepsake for Astoria residents, trolley enthusiasts, railroad fans, and visitors who have experienced one of Oregon's most charming historic attractions.
