Catnip Murders

Catnip Murders combines mystery, humor, and feline curiosity into one of Bill W Dodge’s playful narrative paintings, transforming an ordinary cat into both detective and suspect simultaneously.

Centered around an oversized mystery novel and surrounded by visual clues, silhouettes, question marks, and playful references, the composition invites viewers into a world where storytelling unfolds layer by layer. Dodge’s use of parody, visual humor, and carefully placed details rewards repeated viewing while encouraging viewers to create their own narrative.

Like much of Dodge’s work, Catnip Murders blends whimsy with careful observation, using animals and humor to explore curiosity, imagination, and the stories we create around everyday moments.

Collectors are often drawn to Bill W Dodge’s cat paintings because of their personality and storytelling, and Catnip Murders offers a particularly memorable example—part mystery novel, part comedy, and entirely its own world.

As an original acrylic painting, this one-of-a-kind work represents an opportunity to acquire a unique narrative painting from an artist whose imaginative works have been collected internationally for decades.
