Nuns At The Beach

(1923 - 2016)

This highly collectible Frank Whipple painting is an original miniature from his famous "Nuns" series. With a touch of whimsy and humor, the scene captures three nuns lounging in beach chairs at the water’s edge—until one finds herself unexpectedly airborne, carried away by balloons that perfectly match the stripes on her chair. Lighthearted and playful, this charming piece embodies Whipple’s signature wit and storytelling, making it a delightful addition to any collection.

Bill W Dodge, a reknowned Americana artist was the owner of this painting. He bequeathed it to a life long friend who has made it available for purchase through the Angi D Wildt Gallery.

Whipple's art was collected by Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant, Henry Fonda, John Wayne, Lady Bird Johnson, Phyllis Diller, and Buddy Hacket among many other Hollywood luminaries.
