Kootania County

Kootania County captures a quiet stretch of water winding through a stand of tall trees, where light filters softly through the forest and settles along the surface below. The composition draws the eye inward along the gentle curve of the river, creating a sense of stillness and quiet movement at once.

Burke’s brushwork remains expressive yet restrained, allowing subtle shifts in color—cool blues, soft greens, and warm earth tones—to define both reflection and depth. The scene feels less like a specific location and more like a moment of pause within the landscape, where sound softens and time slows.

Rooted in observation but guided by atmosphere, this piece reflects Burke’s ability to translate the natural world into something contemplative—an experience of place rather than a record of it.
