Awaiting Her Name
A ship with a story to tell—and a name yet to be chosen.
Created by Astoria artist and Columbia River mariner Hannah Hill, this extraordinary steel sailing ship brings nautical imagination to life. Every sail, hull plate, and intricate detail is individually cut, shaped, and welded by hand, reflecting Hannah's professional welding expertise and firsthand experience working on the water.
A battery-operated lantern illuminates the vessel, adding a warm glow to its weathered steel surfaces. A compass aboard the ship offers an unexpected touch of maritime whimsy: influenced by the surrounding metal, its needle doesn't reliably point north and occasionally moves as though the vessel has a mind of her own.
The finishing touch belongs to the collector. The new owner will have the opportunity to name this one-of-a-kind ship, with a personalized metal nameplate created by the artist.
A striking celebration of maritime craftsmanship, adventure, and imagination.
