About the Artist
Shayna Rae is a painter based in The Dalles, Oregon, whose atmospheric oil paintings are inspired by the landscapes of the Columbia River, Astoria, and the rugged Northwest Coast. Her work captures shifting light, water, and weather—places where land, sea, and sky quietly converge.

Working in a highly refined realist style, with influences that include William-Adolphe Bouguereau and Tonalism, Shayna combines carefully rendered detail with smooth, atmospheric passages. Subtle tonal shifts, softened edges, reflective surfaces, and selective areas of texture create a sense of depth while preserving the quiet mood that characterizes her work. Familiar Northwest landscapes are rendered not simply as literal views, but as moments of presence and observation.

Shayna brings more than a decade of experience as a production designer and art director in the film and television industry to her painting practice. Her professional work creating visual environments and establishing the overall aesthetic of a production informs her approach to composition, light, atmosphere, and narrative. She has received two Gold Telly Awards for her production design and art direction.
From intimate studies to larger, highly detailed works, Shayna’s paintings have a contemplative sense of place and an appreciation for the fleeting qualities of the natural world. Her fine art has been featured in exhibitions with the Oregon Society of Artists and The Salvador Dali Surrealistic Exhibit.
