About The Event

June 29 brings a special talk to Seaside on the north Oregon coast, about “Ten Ways to Better Enjoy The Beach.” Geared towards visitors as well as locals, the talk also helps celebrate the opening of the Angi D. Wildt Gallery on Broadway Ave. The talk is given by Oregon coast author Andre’ GW Hagestedt, and takes place at the gallery at 4:30 p.m.

Do you ever feel like something is missing from your visits to the beach? Have you fallen into a routine? Do you live at the coast and feel like you’ve explored it all?

Hagestedt, author of the Ultimate Oregon Coast Travel book series, delves into a variety of surprises this coastline has waiting for you, whether you’re from out of town or a resident. He said there’s always more than meets the eye to the beaches.

The talk is based partially on the book series, where each installment details every beach access of a particular town, as well as the natural oddities and wonders of science. Each of the four books also feature deep insider’s tips and historical accounts often not found elsewhere.

The first rule is to explore, explore, explore, Hagestedt said.

“Give up the itineraries, the written and organized travel plans, and just be open to finding new accesses,” he said. “When you see a feature, ask questions. Why does it look that way? What created it? The answers are often wilder than fiction.”

Hagestedt’s appearance at the gallery and Ten Ways to Better Enjoy The Beach will help people seek out new places they haven’t been before, what you didn’t know about different seasons, plus tips on how not to let your trip go wrong. Some safety information not discussed much will be brought up as well.

The Ultimate Oregon Coast Travel book series currently has four installments: about Cannon Beach, Seaside, Lincoln City and Depoe Bay. Six more in the series are planned over a year. They are available in some stores, museums and shops in Portland, Seaside, Cannon Beach, Lincoln City and near Depoe Bay, as well as on Amazon in book and ebook form.

Hagestedt is also editor and publisher of the online publication Oregon Coast Beach Connection, which contains about 7,000 pages of coastal information. He’s been covering the coast as a travel writer and reporter for 20 years as of 2019.

The Angi D Wildt Gallery opened earlier this year and is located in the newly-renovated Beacon Building in the Historical Gilbert District of Seaside. It features original and unique works of art by primarily Pacific Northwest Artists, and comes from eight years of Wildt’s experience with other galleries. This space and approach was inspired from a famed gallery in Carmel, California.

Books will be for sale at the gallery, along with a meet ‘n greet and book signing afterwards. The talk is free. 737 Broadway #2. Seaside, Oregon. 541-961-1229. www.angidwildtgallery.com.
